Key West for the day

He ido muchas veces a Florida y nunca había estado en Key West; ¡qué descubrimiento mas grato!

I´ve been to Florida many times but I had never been to Key West, what pleasant discovery! It doen´t seem that you are in Florida. The streets full of cafes, bars and small shops and the colonial architecture, just lovely! Needless to say, I would have loved to spend the night there but, believe it or not, there was not a spare room (even the most expensive ones lol) So if you decide to visit, plan ahead of time - I planned from one day to the other and those were the consequences.

The journey began very early (we had to drive from Delray Beach to Key West- no more and no less) about four hours by car ... Since we knew we would go through Coral Gables took the opportunity to try the Venezuelan place someone recommended us- European Corner  (I know, the name wouldn´t  stick even with glue but the tequeños and the cachitos de jamón were super) Now with a full belly and a happy heart, we were ready to drive the rest of miles ahead of us. The journey has impressive views, with the sea on both sides of the road and really incredible bridges.

Once in situ, it was time to walk ... the heat was not normal and the kiddos complained. However, since they are great traveling companions,, they walked beside us through the start of the U.S. 1, until we reached the southernmost point of the United States. There we drank some delicious slush and I had a coconut water; it had been sooooooo long since I had one! A little more refreshed, we walked back looking for places to eat a little something and were delighted by the picturesque sites of the place.

To keep it simple (I must confess that I would have sat in any of the bars and have a few mojitos) we decided to eat at Hard Rock Café. There they have food for all tastes and enough space indoors to be cool.... Soon after there wasn´t  time for much more. My must have cup of coffee to be a good co-pilot back home and ready for four hours back home.
