My gastro-ruta @ Madrid

 Evocando recuerdos

Let's face it, going to Madrid is synonymous to eating well. True, I am not Ego from Ratatouille (a Disney movie for those who have no idea what I´m talking about) nor a recognized critique. But ... I do know something about eating well that´s why I want to share with you my  Gastro-route from my trip to Madrid. You won´t be disappointed (if you decide to try one of the rest´s)

Trully, the best hamburger I've had in years! It reminded me of one I ate in Napa Valley at the Rutherford Grill after finishing a wine tasting at Robert Mondavi. If you love a good burger, this is the place. Thanks to Arnoldo for his recommendation. The kiddos wera also delighted. They ate the BBQ ribs that were superbe!

Perhaps, as in my case, you do not understand what is that of El Huarique??? Well it´s the name of this wonderful restaurant´s Gastrobar. I love Peruvian food. Varied, succulent and it evokes lots of memories. Do not worry if you call (as was our case- to make a reservation and they tell you the restaurant is full) at the Gastrobar you can have many of the dishes and in a very cool lounge.

Love breakfast??  Then Le Pain Quotidien is the placefor you. Breads, pastry- all made with ecological products and enjoyed at a communal table (as they describe them on their website) give this little place  that I-don´t-know-what- that you want to visit on a daily basis.
The best part of my breakfast? the eggs Benedict with salmon and my very italian cappuccino. Just like the one I had at the coast in Parma many years ago.

MERCADO SAN MIGUEL, un must.

San Miguel market, a must. There is sooo much to enjoy and the best time to go: EARLY. Unless you are one of those who like to see and be seen. We were with the kiddos so we prefer bright and early to see it all peacefully (we have enough with them lol)
There is plenty to eat. Of everything that we had, my pick is the spectacular funghi porcini croquettes, with a glass champagne to celebrate!

I don´t know what I liked best- the restautant or the terrace. Again, we were with the kiddos. If not, I would´ve stayed, more than happy, at the terrace for a coffee or a glass of wine. With friends or your significant other Phew! For everything else there´s Master Card lol.

The restaurant is at the San Anton market @ Chueca. They promote that you can buy what you like at the market area
and they will cook it for you.  Since we went on a Sunday we couldn´t do that. Anyway, I ate a very good mushroom risotto (let´s hope Glenda doesn´t hear about ir because she´s the queen of the risottos) The best part: dessert. An apple pie made to order that I think is to blame for my apple cravings and the reason why I made the apple-cinna chips lol)

All these food must end with a Deliciuos coffee and what a better place than where we were at the San Anton market paired with a pair of pistachio macarrons, yumm!
